Neuman

David G. Neuman passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 11, 2021 at the age of 64, in Cleveland after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Dave is survived by his daughters Christin Swingle of Willowick and Nicole Treu (Karsten) of Rosamond, California; grandchildren Olivia, Carmella, and Xavier; sisters Sue Neuman and Barbara Winder; and beloved grand-dog Kylo. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew, Jennifer Piorkowski, Lindsay Hadel, and Christopher Wallace. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred A. and Phyllis E. D. Neuman.

Dave was an avid tropical fish lover who worked for decades at Tropical Fish Distributors in Wickliffe, where he was entrusted to hand-select fish for prestigious aquariums and zoos nationally. He enjoyed competing, along with daughter Christin, at regional tropical fish shows, winning several ribbons and awards for the fish that he bred and raised. Dave loved animals and nature, and treasured memories of camping with his family as a child. He especially loved canoeing, and took many canoeing trips with his daughters, family, and friends throughout his life.

Dave was a skilled musician and guitarist who composed many pieces of digital music. He shared his love of music with his children by taking them to music festivals, guitar shows, and attended an incalculable number of concerts with friends and family. He also shared this passion with his granddaughter by teaching her advanced techniques in guitar. Like his mother, he was a skilled artist and created many artworks across diverse mediums. While living in Cleveland and in NYC, he loved exploring and photographing the impressive graffiti art-works throughout both cities, believing that these skilled artists should be celebrated.

Dave was a “character” who could make you laugh just as easily as he could make you cry or roll your eyes. His sarcasm, dad jokes, and enthusiastic storytelling will be greatly missed at family get-togethers.

A celebration of life in his honor will be held at a later date and his ashes will be spread in the oceans and lakes so that he may “be with the fish.”

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in Dave’s name, to The Hospice of the Western Reserve, who were a saving grace to Dave and his family.
