Lawrence John Kunkler, 8881 Schaefer St., Mentor, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the age of 50. He was born on November 01, 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. Larry was loved dearly by many friends and family. He loved gaming, reading books, watching tv and rooting for the Browns and Indians. His biggest passion was Star Wars and he loved watching the movies and talking to others online about it. Larry had a love and concern for other people and made friends easily. He loved his wife and family, but put God before anything else. He was very strong in his faith and would pray for anyone who asked. He was a very gentle soul and this world will never be the same without him.
Larry is survived by his wife, Amy (Tompkins), one step-daughter, Jessica Clark (Billy), and two step-sons, Christopher Huddleston (Becca) and Timothy Huddleston. Larry is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Ace Huddleston, Marie Clark, Zaylee Hemingway, Chance Huddleston and Christopher Huddleston. Larry is survived by his father, Arthur Charles Kunkler and his mother, Cheryl Darlene Kunkler (Pike). Three sisters, Darlene Mooty, Virginia Scwhin (Mike), Melanie Kunkler and one brother, Sebastian Kunkler as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will have a small private memorial and will have a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Hospital or The American Lung Association.

Larry was my best and was my oldest childhood friend of 36 years.
He and I had such a great time growing up from catch and frisbee in the street under the street lights, we were went bowling together, and trips to Cedar Point!
We stayed up all night playing Atari Real-Voice Baseball (He usually won). We’d spend all day playing the arcade game, Arkanoid at one of the fairs after working the food booth.
Many a deep discussion was had over a few beers as we contemplated the meanings of life and our own existence.
Though we lost touch for awhile as adults, when we found each other on Facebook, we would chat as if we hadn’t lost any time at all, except for the additions of our Better-halves and the current states of our lives.
I can’t wait to see him again in Heaven, knowing that we both love Jesus our Savior! He may have beat me there, but I know he’ll be waiting at the finish line with a welcoming hug!
Live it up, my brother!

Amy, I am truly sorry that Larry was not able to be moved directly to the caring facility chosen for him. Knowing how he loved the scriptures as you do, gives everyone some peace but the heart still grieves for the loss. We are praying for you. We know Larry is loved on both sides (the earthly as well as the heavenly). I hope that knowledge brings you peace in time. I know it takes time.
I connected with Larry on the ancestor site and we wrote to each other because I knew his father, Art Kunkler, as kids. He said he’d say hello. I was sad to see that his dad passed and even more shocked when it said Lawrence had also died. My deepest condolences to you and your family. We were related on the Wilson side of the family, Art’s mother’s side. My mother was also a Wilson. God bless.
