Lynda Theresa (Hammond) Hyland passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, February 13, 2021, following a long illness. She was 43 years of age.
Lynda was born May 25, 1978, in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of David F Hammond and Patricia A (Soos) Hammond. She was a graduate of Jackson-Milton High School class of 1996 before graduating from Youngstown State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications.
Lynda married Chad A Hyland in September 1998, and they had a daughter, Maddelyn A Hyland in December 1999.
Ultimately, Lynda found a kindred spirit in a gentleman named, Michael Andre of Chardon, OH. The two of them settled in to make a home together for the past 14 years and shared a 13 year-old son, David M Andre.
Following a career in sales, Lynda ultimately pursued her creative passions and opened “Simply Gram’s Way Bakery” which she ran out of her home. She named the bakery after her maternal grandmother, Winifred (Winnie) Soos, who gave Lynda her love of baking, and the bakery was founded using many of her grandmother’s original recipes. Lynda was very proud of the bakery and won several prizes at local competitions and fairs for her award-winning pies. In addition to her love of baking, Lynda especially loved unique purses and high-heeled shoes and had quite the collection of both.
Lynda was preceded in death by grandparents, George and Betty (Birch) Hammond, and Raymond and Winifred (Weaks) Soos. Lynda greatly loved and cherished each of her grandparents and got her childhood nickname “Lynda Binda”, which her family still lovingly referred to her as on occasion, from her paternal grandfather, George.
Besides her partner, Michael, with whom she made her home, and her two children, Maddelyn Hyland and David Andre, Lynda leaves behind a step-daughter, Madison Andre of Mansfield, Ohio, parents, David & Patricia (Soos) Hammond of Diamond, OH, sister Sharon Hammond-Black (Brian) of Little Rock, Arkansas, niece Laurel C. Black and nephew Daniel J. Black also of Little Rock, AR. Lynda also leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousins who dearly loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Lake Milton Baptist Temple in Lake Milton, Ohio. Guests are asked to follow all COVID-19 safety protocols, including wearing facemasks during the service and keeping appropriate social distance inside the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that material contributions take the form of donations to an educational trust fund established for her two children, Madde and David. To donate to this educational fund, please make a check payable to “LPL FINANCIAL” and mail to fund trustees: Sharon and Brian Black, 32 Tournay Circle, Little Rock, AR, 72223. An online giving option is also available on Facebook posted by her sister, Sharon Hammond-Black.
